This Week News Profiles TYMDWB

27 Jan

Nicole, Brian and Danny pose for This Week News.

Kevin Parks of This Week News (Clintonville) wrote a fabulous profile on TYMDWB for the Jan. 28 edition. We are so honored by this coverage and the response to it! We heard also from Brian’s oncologist, Dr. Andrew Grainger, who will now share this great resource with the patients at Columbus Oncology and Hematology!

The Art of Healing

20 Jan

Was invited by Maryanna D. Klatt. Ph.D. to speak to her class, “The Evolving Art and Science of Medicine” at The Ohio State University next month about the role of art in healing. Looking forward to sharing how writing and illustrating “The Year My Dad Went Bald” helped me recover mentally from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with her students.

Dispatch Profiles TYMDWB

18 Jan

Joe Blundo of the Columbus Dispatch came over last week and spent an hour with us talking about lymphoma, cancer diagnosis and “The Year My Dad Went Bald.” He is so insightful and asked such great questions–and the resulting story so well captures what our experience was like. We hope you will check it out at the Dispatch site. And if you haven’t yet gotten your copy, you can order it on this site or at Amazon.

Companions of Hope

12 Jan

We had a fantastic meeting today with The James Cancer Center  Companions of Hope, an amazing program offered through Ohio State University that provides support for families and kids who are facing a parent’s cancer diagnosis. They were so supportive of “The Year My Dad Went Bald,” and will be offering it to their families who have father’s diagnosed with cancer. We are grateful to them for their support, and aslo for the chance to contribute in some way to such a worthwhile program.

If anyone needs their help, I hope you will contact them at 614.293.4138!

Winter Classic

3 Jan

Had  a great time at our Annual Winter Classic Party. Good show by the NHL despite the weather. But dealing with the weather is what makes it fun in the first place. Thanks to all our finds who braved the elements to watch the Caps stick it to the Pens. And special thanks those who helped us raise funds for Hockey Fights Cancer in our raffle. Our friend Cheryl was the big winner and donated her winnings back to the cause. She also won a signed copy of “The Year My Dad Went Bald”

Let’s hope the rumors of a Winter Classic in Philly come true. Would love to see Flyers vs. Rangers at the Linc.

TYMDWB on CBS Radio on 12/31/10!

30 Dec

In another example of our friends continuing to help us, Andrew Cohen of CBS News recommended “The Year My Dad Went Bald” to his coworkers at CBS Radio, and Brian and Danny were just interviewed for tomorrow’s show. What an amazing way to usher out an amazing 2010 and welcome what is sure to be an even more wonderful 2011. Danny is so excited, he may never get to sleep!
